"My girlfriend, Sara, and I scouted naturist beaches in the Andalucian Coast to look for the picture perfect Playa de Los Muertos. While travelling we came across this beautiful little village, San José, just on the eastern entrance to the Cabo de Gata nature reserve. We only discovered Cala Higuera when we decided to try a different dirt road and ended up on a small, secluded, almost empty beach where we could take off our clothes, jump in the clear blue water and swim with the fish."

Go: You can get to Cala Higuera from San José in Cabo de Gata, to the east of Almeria in the Andalucian coast of Spain. When you enter the village, at the first roundabout go left and enter a dirt road that leads directly to the beach.
Stay: Rent Federico’s Beach House in Almeria, Níjar on AirBnB. This beautiful Mediterranean, two-bedroom, terraced cottage is just minutes from the best beaches in Cabo de Gata. Federico is extremely nice and the house is exquisitely decorated with great summer holiday vibes.
Eat: San José is filled with restaurants serving great seafood and typical Mediterranean cuisine. Stop in at 4 Nudos, a restaurant at the end of the small village's sea port, and be sure to try the grilled Octopus for starters.
Drink: Follow Rafael and Sara’s after-beach tradition by going to La Teteria in the center of the village for a Hierbabuena lemonade with rum. It’s incredible.
