Martin Wunderwald and friends brave arctic conditions in the name of nudeness in Iceland.
"We trekked two hours from the tourist are in the direction of the glacier. We wanted to get as close as possible to take this photo. We dipped our toes in the water. It could not have been more than 7 degrees Celsius. We knew that we would not have long. We used my old Seagull twin lens camera with expired film. We took off our clothes and raced to the ice block, took the photo and raced back. This is why the water looks blurry- because we were only on these ice blocks for five seconds. It was one of the greatest feelings ever to step with the cold feet into the hot black sand, warmed by the volcano beneath us."

Go: Bus service in Iceland is efficient and punctual, while car rental can be expensive. Either way, Jokulsárlón is about 5 hours from Reykjavik, so plan to spend the night.
Stay: The guesthouse on the working farm of Hali is just 13K east of the lagoon and offers cozy accommodation.
Eat: Arctic char at Hali is as fresh as it gets. Also try humarsupa, traditional Iceland lobster soup.
Drink: Brennivín is Iceland's signature liquor and it's not for the faint of heart. Similar to Scandinavian akvavit, it is colloquially known as svarti dauôi or "black death" due to its menacing black label.
