"Cabo the Gata Natural Park has a lot of beautiful places. There’s just this special one, where you feel that you are swimming on a field of grass. It’s the perfect place for diving. Take a waterproof camera, you don’t want to miss a thing."

Go:  For traditional souvenirs, go to Níjar, a picturesque town that is well known for its famous crafts and ceramics, full of beautiful colors.

Stay:  Hole up at El Nido (the Nest) in Rodalquilar. It’s the perfect hideaway in the Cabo de Gata, a secluded haven with panoramic views of the coast and surrounding hills. Simple and modest, but perfect for a relaxing stay.

Eat:  If you’re a meat lover, you can ask everywhere for a bocadillo (a typical Spanish sandwich) with Jamón Serrano and Manchego Cheese. Sample other beach-friendly Spanish snacks like pan tumaca (bread with tomato and garlic) or tortilla (Spanish omelet).

Drink:  Tinto de Verano always tastes good, it’s red wine and soda, similar to sangria, but simpler. If you’re at the beach and desperate for a drink, you’re in luck. El Refugio is right on top.
